The 3 Most Common Fitting Issues (And What They Mean)
When Flipkart sellers first install thermal barcode printers (like the TSC TE244, TVS LP 46, Xprinter XP-420B, or Zebra ZD220), they usually encounter one of three symptoms:
Step 1: Always Crop the Raw Flipkart A4 PDF First
Flipkart downloads do not originate as 4x6 labels. They are full A4 sheets containing the shipping label on top and a customer tax invoice on the bottom.
If you feed an uncropped A4 sheet directly to a 4x6 roll printer:
- The printer tries to fit 297 mm of page height into 152 mm of paper, shrinking barcodes by nearly 50%.
- Alternatively, it prints the shipping label on page 1 and wastes a whole thermal sticker printing the tax invoice on page 2!
Use our free Flipkart shipping label crop tool to isolate the exact label box in 1 click. QuickCrop automatically removes the invoice portion and re-centers the shipping label on a native 4x6 canvas.
Step 2: Configure 100×150 mm Paper Size in Windows Driver
To ensure Windows communicates the exact sticker size to the printer hardware:
- Press
Windows Key + R, typecontrol printers, and press Enter. - Right-click your thermal printer and select Printing Preferences.
- Look for the Page Setup or Stock tab.
- If 4×6 in or 100×150 mm is in the dropdown, select it.
- If not present, click New... to create a custom stock size:
• Stock Name:Flipkart 4x6 Label
• Width:4.00 inches (101.6 mm)
• Height:6.00 inches (152.4 mm) - Click Apply and OK.
Step 3: Set Print Margins to Zero (0 mm)
Many desktop printer drivers add default 3 mm to 5 mm margins around the printable area. Thermal labels require edge-to-edge alignment:
- In printer driver preferences, check the Layout / Advanced tab.
- Ensure Left, Right, Top, and Bottom margins are set to
0.00 mm. - In your browser's print window (Chrome or Edge), click More settings and set Margins: None.
- Set Scale: Actual Size (100%). Never check "Fit to printable area" which introduces unwanted padding.
Step 4: Calibrate the Auto-Gap Sensor (Stop Blank Feeds)
Thermal printers use an optical sensor underneath the paper path to detect the transparent gap (usually 2 mm to 3 mm) between stickers. When loading a new roll, the printer must calibrate the paper thickness and gap spacing:
- Turn off the printer power switch.
- Hold down the front FEED / PAUSE button.
- While holding the button, turn on the power switch.
- Keep holding until the red/amber LED flashes (usually 2 to 3 beeps), then release immediately.
- The printer will feed 2 to 3 labels slowly, detect the gap boundaries, and position the tear bar perfectly at the cut line.
